Regulations
National Minimum Care Standards
Since April 2002 we have been regulated by the National Care Standards Commission and are required to comply with the National Minimum Standards and Private and Voluntary Healthcare Regulations for Independent Healthcare.
In 2004, the National Care Standards Commission merged with CHAI to form the Healthcare Commission. The National Minimum Standards will be updated in 2006 and fall in line with Standards for Better Health. They affect all areas of the hospital (establishment) and in particular emphasises that responsibility for action undertaken within the hospital is now shared between the individual practitioner and the registered person.
There are many standards that directly impact on your practice and the service our hospital is required to provide. As a hospital we have the responsibility to be aware of, monitor and guide practice within our establishment and therefore we encourage a culture of partnership and openness when working with our Consultant Users. We are committed to offering your practice full support in meeting the standards and will keep you up to date with any changes in requirements. Your full co-operation in working towards them with the hospital is greatly appreciated.
To familiarise yourself with the standards we recommend that you visit www.healthcarecommission.org for a full reading of the standards and regulations.
